Situated in the southwest of Nigeria, Osogbo is an important chapter in the history of modern African art. In the 1960s, Osogbo witnessed a series of artistic activities ranging from painting and sculpture to music and theatre. The results attracted international attention and lent Osogbo the reputation as “Nigeria’s left bank,” thus paralleling Osogbo’s artistic status in Nigeria with that of Paris in France.  Since then, Osogbo art has become a trademark, signifying the richness and vitality of Yoruba art and culture. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 404-613-3220.
